Located near Rawdon in the Lanaudière region of Quebec, Parc des Chutes-Monte-à-Peine-et-des-Dalles encompasses a dramatic portion of the Ouareau River, featuring deep gorges, cliffs, and several impressive waterfalls including the Monte-à-Peine and Des Dalles falls. The park covers over 97 hectares and showcases mixed forests dominated by maple, birch, and fir species, supporting a range of wildlife including birds, small mammals, and aquatic species. Its steep rock faces and exposed cliffs make it a favored destination for rock climbers, while extensive well-maintained trails attract hikers of all skill levels seeking scenic overlooks and opportunities for photography. Historically, the area was used by local logging operations, but today it serves as a protected natural area preserving both its geological features and biodiversity. Visitors can explore several lookouts granting panoramic views of the river's rapids and falls, as well as enjoy picnic areas and interpretive signage that explain the park’s natural history.
